EcoRise 2025: Youth Workshop on Biodiversity & Action in Malaysia
EcoRise 2025: Youth Workshop on Biodiversity & Action brought together 50 young leaders from across Malaysia for an immersive program focused on environmental awareness and community-led conservation. Through interactive sessions, field activities, and hands-on learning, participants explored the importance of biodiversity, the threats it faces, and how local action can drive global change. Highlights included a guided biodiversity walk, native tree planting, and the co-creation of community impact projects aimed at protecting Malaysia’s rich ecosystems. The workshop empowered youth with practical tools, mentorship opportunities, and a platform to lead sustainability initiatives in their own communities, marking the beginning of a growing movement of informed, action-driven environmental stewards.

Restoration with Shabunda Community in DRC
Project Verdant Nexus is dedicated to regenerating degraded ecosystems by restoring soil health, increasing biodiversity, and improving climate resilience. Through reforestation, wetland rehabilitation, and sustainable land management, we create measurable, lasting environmental impact. Each year, we plant over 100,000 native trees to combat deforestation and sequester carbon, while soil restoration techniques such as composting, biochar, and mycelium networks enhance fertility and water retention. Our efforts also focus on biodiversity recovery by reintroducing native plant species and establishing wildlife corridors to support pollinators, birds, and keystone species. Additionally, we restore wetlands and implement natural filtration systems to improve water quality and reduce flooding risks. Community engagement is central to our approach, as we train local communities in regenerative agriculture and conservation techniques to ensure long-term sustainability. By aligning with natural processes and involving local stakeholders, Verdant Nexus transforms degraded landscapes into thriving ecosystems that benefit both people and wildlife.
(test)BKCF Grant: Monitoring 7,000 Mangrove Trees & Distributing Payments
This Hypercert confirms that the milestone of collecting field data for 3,000 mature mangrove trees 🌱 in Surigao del Sur, as part of the AI/Machine Learning-powered Digital Monitoring of Mangrove Ecosystems project, has been achieved. With this milestone reached, payments 💰 have been distributed to local community partners for their essential contributions. Oceanus Conservation, Thinking Machines, and GainForest are collaborating on this project, which is funded by the BKCF Grant from the Global Green Growth Institute.
